Canadian Artist-Merch Demand Index (October 2026)
6ix Merchandise is a Toronto streetwear label that ships artist-inspired hoodies and tees across Canada. Because we sell to fans in every province, our search data offers an early read on which artists Canadians are actively shopping for. This is the Canadian Artist-Merch Demand Index for the 28 days ending 19 October 2026, built from searches made in Canada that surfaced our store.
The headline: one artist took 42% of artist-tagged Canadian demand
Bruno Mars is the story of this edition. Searches from Canada that surfaced our Bruno Mars pages went from 788 to 10,205 impressions (+1,195%), which is 42% of every artist-tagged impression in the index. The daily series shows when it happened: impressions on Bruno Mars queries stayed under 150 a day through 7 October, passed 1,000 on 14 October and peaked at 1,906 on 16 October, then eased to 514 by 19 October. Vancouver is part of it: 471 of the 481 Vancouver-tagged impressions this window name him.
Because one name now fills so much of the index, treat every other share with care. Drake held steady in second place at 2,102 impressions. Tate McRae is the other real riser, from 466 to 835 (+79%).
What cooled
The names that led September have faded sharply. Don Toliver fell from 1,469 to 185 impressions (-87%), Bryson Tiller from 1,849 to 433 (-77%), J. Cole from 1,045 to 402 (-62%) and Daniel Caesar from 244 to 134 (-45%). The Toronto effect went with them: Toronto-tagged searches naming Don Toliver dropped from 370 to 13. Footballer searches, which collapsed after the World Cup final, have steadied at 1,027 impressions against 909 the window before (+13%).
Fastest-rising artist-merch demand
Ranked by growth in search impressions from Canada over the most recent 28-day window versus the prior 28 days, limited to artists with at least 400 impressions now so that small bases cannot inflate the table. Only three artists clear that bar with positive growth this month; most of the rest fell.
| # | Artist | Recent impressions | Growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bruno Mars | 10,205 | +1,195% |
| 2 | Tate McRae | 835 | +79% |
| 3 | Juice WRLD | 572 | +4% |
Highest-volume artist-merch demand
Ranked by total search impressions from Canada in the most recent 28-day window.
| # | Artist | Recent impressions |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bruno Mars | 10,205 |
| 2 | Drake | 2,102 |
| 3 | Travis Scott | 898 |
| 4 | Tate McRae | 835 |
| 5 | The Weeknd | 624 |
| 6 | Juice WRLD | 572 |
| 7 | A$AP Rocky | 510 |
| 8 | Justin Bieber | 498 |
| 9 | Frank Ocean | 475 |
| 10 | Bryson Tiller | 433 |
Two names from that volume ranking have their own shelves here: the Travis Scott merch collection covers Astroworld, UTOPIA and Look Mom I Can Fly designs, and the ASAP Rocky Pretty Flacko and Babushka pieces cover Rocky’s side of the list.
Where the demand is: Canadian cities
City-tagged searches (for example “drake toronto merch”) show where fans attach a location to their merch hunt. Vancouver now leads, at 481 impressions against 70 in the prior window, and almost all of it pairs the city with Bruno Mars. Toronto, which led in September, fell from 553 to 170.
| # | Location | City-tagged impressions |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Vancouver | 481 |
| 2 | Toronto | 170 |
| 3 | Hamilton | 31 |
| 4 | Montreal | 4 |
| 5 | Edmonton | 1 |
Methodology
Figures are drawn from Google Search Console impression data for 6ixmerchandise.ca, limited to searches made in Canada, over the 28 days ending 19 October 2026 (22 September to 19 October 2026), compared against the prior 28 days (25 August to 21 September 2026) on the same basis. Impressions count how often our pages appeared in search results for artist-merch queries, so the index reflects demand as seen through one Canadian retailer’s catalogue rather than the entire market. Artist names were normalised across query variants (for example “asap rocky merch”, “asap rocky hoodie”, “asap rocky shirt”). Growth is shown only for artists that held at least 400 impressions in the current window and had measurable demand in the prior one, so no rate is computed off a zero base. Artists we do not currently carry are left out of the tables. Editions before September 2026 counted searches from every country. The index is directional, and it is refreshed monthly from live data rather than restated from a previous edition. The September 2026 edition covered 16 August to 12 September.
A note from the founder
6ix Merchandise started in a Scarborough basement with a heat press and a short list of artists we actually listened to. Last month the loudest signal in this index was Don Toliver. This month it is Bruno Mars. That is the lesson of watching search demand: it moves faster than any catalogue can. We publish the index, including the months where last month’s headline faded, because the demand signal belongs to the fans and Canadian streetwear deserves data that reflects what people here are really searching for.
