Canadian Artist-Merch Demand Index (August 2026)

6ix Merchandise is a Toronto streetwear label that ships artist-inspired hoodies and tees across Canada. Because we sell to fans in every province, our search data offers an early read on which artists Canadians are actively shopping for right now. This is the Canadian Artist-Merch Demand Index for the 28 days ending 16 August 2026, refreshed from our own Search Console data.

The headline: the football surge did not hold

Our July edition found footballers climbing faster than any rapper we track, and said plainly that the open question was whether it would hold once the 2026 World Cup finished on 19 July. It did not. Across the footballers in the index, demand fell 53% against the prior 28 days, from 9,023 impressions to 4,275. The tournament, not a lasting shift in taste, was the driver.

What replaced it is domestic. Daniel Caesar is the fastest-rising name in this window at +2,040%, and Canadian artists are unusually well represented among the risers. Nationwide Canada-tagged searches also rose, to 1,664 impressions.

Fastest-rising artist-merch demand

Ranked by growth in search impressions over the most recent 28-day window versus the prior 28 days, limited to artists with at least 400 impressions now so that small bases cannot inflate the table.

2 Tate McRae 2,535 +189%
3 Karan Aujla 496 +177%

Where the demand is: Canadian cities

City-tagged searches (for example “drake toronto merch”) show where fans attach a location to their merch hunt. This window Toronto leads clearly, which is a reversal of our July edition, when Vancouver and Hamilton both ran ahead of it.

# Location City-tagged impressions
1 Toronto 1,080
2 Edmonton 212
3 Hamilton 142
4 Vancouver 119
5 Calgary 106
6 Winnipeg 71
7 Montreal 40

Methodology

Figures are drawn from Google Search Console impression data for 6ixmerchandise.ca over the 28 days ending 16 August 2026, compared against the prior 28 days (22 June to 19 July 2026). Impressions count how often our pages appeared in search results for artist-merch queries, so the index reflects demand as seen through one Canadian retailer’s catalogue rather than the entire market. Artist names were normalised across query variants (for example “asap rocky merch”, “asap rocky hoodie”, “asap rocky shirt”). Growth is shown only for artists that held at least 400 impressions in the current window and had measurable demand in the prior one, so no rate is computed off a zero base. The index is directional, and it is refreshed monthly from live data rather than restated from a previous edition.

A note from the founder

6ix Merchandise started in a Scarborough basement with a heat press and a short list of artists we actually listened to. Last month footballers were climbing faster than rappers and we said we would check whether it lasted. It did not, and publishing that matters more to us than a tidy story. We publish this index because the demand signal belongs to the fans, and because Canadian streetwear deserves data that reflects what people here are really searching for.
